The link includes a button that allows students to register online. If you are a 16 or 17 year old, you pre-register to vote; if you are a 18 year old, you can register to vote. You must have a signature on file with the DMV to be able to pre-register online. If you don’t, you can fill out a paper version of the Voter Registration Form to apply.

As a 16-17 year old, when you complete your on-line pre-registration form, you will be entered into our database as being eligible to vote on your 18th birthday.

On your smart phone, the link also includes a mock election that allows you to see what it’s like to vote and get used to some of the things you’ll be voting on when you receive a real ballot.

This “2Vote” text program is aimed at promoting civic education among young voters and cultivate lifelong voters and active engaged citizens. Superintendents and principals throughout Contra Costa County have expressed enthusiasm in this program.

If you would like more information on the program, including receiving some promotional flyers to post around your school, contact the Civic Engagement team at 925-335-7805.
