Vote by Mail Ballot Deadline Nears for June 5, 2012 Presidential Primary Election |

| Voters in Contra Costa County are reminded that Tuesday, May 29, 2012 is the final day that requests can be received in the mail by the Elections Office for anyone wanting to vote a vote by mail ballot for the Presidential Primary Election to be held June 5, 2012 . Voters are encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible so that they will have sufficient time to receive, vote and return the ballot prior to the close of the polls at 8:00 p.m. June 5, 2012 in order for the ballot to be counted. Any registered voter within Contra Costa County may apply for and vote a vote by mail ballot by mailing a request to the Contra Costa County Elections Office at P.O. Box 271, Martinez, CA 94553. The application must be received by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Vote by mail ballot requests are valid only if they are received by the deadline, postmarks are not accepted. Vote by mail applications are sent with each sample ballot. If you have not received your sample ballot, you may also, on any blank piece of paper, print your name, the address where you are registered to vote, the address where you want the ballot mailed, the statement ‘please send me a vote by mail ballot for the 6/5/2012 Presidential Primary Election’, and your signature. Each voter wanting a vote by mail ballot must personally sign the request. Mail the request to the Elections Office to arrive by the deadline. Vote by mail requests may also be faxed to (925) 335-7838 or voters may individually complete an on-line vote by mail ballot request on the County’s web site Vote by Mail on line application. Voters may also visit the Contra Costa County Elections Office between now and election day if they wish to vote in person, or simply want to pick up a ballot or drop off their voted ballot. In addition to regular office hours during the week, the office will be open Saturday, June 2, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The Elections Office is located in Martinez at 555 Escobar Street. Anyone who became a new resident to the State of California after the May 21 deadline to register is eligible to register and vote at the Contra Costa County Elections Office between May 22 and May 29, 2012 only. Anyone who became a newly naturalized citizen after the May 21 deadline to register is eligible to register and vote at the Contra Costa County Elections Office between May 22 and June 5, 2012. Each person must bring their Certificate of Naturalization and declare that they have established residence in Contra Costa County.
